Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Acting Head of the European Union Delegation to Mongolia and China Dr. Michael Pulch was received on 8th of May by the Prime Minister S.Batbold to announce an extra contribution of two million Euros for Dzud relief activities. Mr Pulch was accompanied by resident Ambassadors of EU Member States.

This aid package comes on top of emergency support of 150 000 Euros provided by the European Commission in January and significant bilateral contributions of individual EU Member States. The aid will be used to finance projects on food security, livelihood and health status of vulnerable herder families.

Prime Minister S.Batbold thanked the EU for this specific support, which will help Mongolia to address the devastating impact of the zud disaster. Moreover, this gesture underlined the excellent relationship between Mongolia and the European Union. Good progress has been made in recent years to intensify relations and the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, currently negotiated, will be another important step in that regard.
